Agents checked his REAL ID, which Alabama issues to those legally in the U.S. Garcia Venegas was held handcuffed for more than an hour. His brother was later deported. Garcia Venegas returned to work two weeks later. On a subsequent occasion, an immigration agent encountered Garcia Venegas at a construction site and checked his REAL ID. Agents also held two other workers who had legal status during immigration enforcement activities.

Mexican farmworker detained, coerced to waive rights, transferred out of state

A 45-year-old Mexican citizen who entered legally in January 2025 and overstayed her visa was arrested on her way to work. She was then transferred to Tacoma, Washington and shackled on a bus, with no attorneys able to meet with her for approximately two days afterward.

Mother of U.S. Marine released from ICE custody after three weeks

Plainclothes agents arrest barber in Southwest Side barbershop
