Activist pepper-sprayed by ICE agent outside Meriden courthouse

Nancy Burton, a Meriden resident and member of a rapid response team monitoring ICE activity in Connecticut, was pepper-sprayed by an ICE agent exiting the Meriden courthouse during a confrontation between activists and agents. Burton said she was stepping away from the officer after he demanded she move when he deployed the spray, saying "He wanted to use his pepper spray, he didn't have to." She was treated by an emergency medical technician at the scene. The incident occurred as ICE agents detained at least one man at the courthouse, an operation that raised questions about compliance with Connecticut's Trust Act, which limits immigration enforcement at courthouses and bans masked law enforcement.

Burbank father detained by ICE while walking family dog

Olvera works in the hospitality industry and lives with his partner and three young children who attend Burbank Unified School District elementary schools. Friends describe him as exceptionally kind and devoted to his family and community, noting that he often gives water and donations to struggling community members and teaches his children to "love thy neighbor." He is currently detained at Adelanto detention facility, which is operated by the for-profit Geo Group.

Canadian permanent resident dies in ICE custody after preventable kidney failure, family seeks answers

Johnny Noviello, a 49-year-old Canadian permanent resident and U.S. citizen since 1991, died on June 23, 2025, in ICE custody at Federal Detention Center Miami after being detained for approximately 40 days. He was arrested by ICE on May 15 in Daytona Beach and transferred to the Miami facility on May 19 following a 2023 drug trafficking conviction and faced removal proceedings. An autopsy determined he died from acute kidney failure caused by calcium oxalate crystal deposits. Six kidney specialists concluded the death was preventable, noting symptoms would have been detectable for days and treatable through dialysis. ICE records documented he had health issues including hypertension, convulsions, and abnormal vital signs during detention. A complaint alleges Bureau of Prisons medical staff failed to document an evaluation or create a treatment plan after he appeared dizzy and unstable. The FBI is investigating his death.

Marine veteran says Border Patrol beat his immigrant father during arrest

While DHS claimed Barranco swung his weed trimmer at agents, witnesses posted videos showing officers punching him repeatedly as he lay on the ground.

U.S. citizen detained at Walmart while helping detained worker, faces federal charges

Adrian Martinez, a 20-year-old U.S. citizen and Walmart employee, was detained by federal agents on June 18, 2025, during an immigration enforcement operation at a Pico Rivera Walmart parking lot. When agents began detaining an elderly maintenance worker, Martinez intervened by blocking the agents' vehicle with the worker's cart in an attempt to help. Agents shoved him to the ground twice. Federal officials initially claimed Martinez punched agents, but security camera footage from the store showed no punches were thrown and that agents initiated the physical contact. Martinez was charged with conspiracy to impede or injure an officer, a felony, rather than assault. He spent three nights in jail following his arrest. A federal judge ordered his release on a $5,000 bond.

Gardener Claiming Dual Citizenship Detained by ICE Agents in Long Beach

OC gardener Narciso Barranco punched by federal agents during workplace arrest, son demands answers

Narciso Barranco, a 5'7", 150-pound landscaper who has lived in the United States since the 1990s, was detained by ICE and Border Patrol agents on June 21, 2025, during a workplace enforcement action at an IHOP in Santa Ana, Orange County, California. Video footage of the arrest shows multiple masked federal agents repeatedly punching Barranco in the head and neck and tackling him to the ground in a busy intersection as he was pinned by three officers. His oldest son, Alejandro, a 25-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran with two active-duty Marine brothers, said his father was scared when plainclothes armed agents approached him and expressed concern about the excessive force used by multiple larger officers. After speaking with his father by phone the following day, Alejandro reported that Barranco was injured, had not received medical attention, was very thirsty, and had not eaten. Barranco is being held by ICE at a detention center in Los Angeles. The Department of Homeland Security claimed Barranco swung a weed whacker at an agent and refused to comply with commands, though videos show him running with the tool and attempting to open a car door before being tackled.

Las Vegas Latino marketplace closes over ICE raid fears, affecting hundreds of vendors and families

Broadacres Marketplace, a nearly 50-year-old flea market and cultural hub in North Las Vegas, closed on June 21, 2025, due to fears of ICE raids. The 45-acre marketplace serves thousands of Latino customers weekly and employs hundreds of vendors. Ana Bernal Hernandez, whose family operates two food stalls at Broadacres (Gorditas El Fogón and Chilorio's) plus a standalone restaurant with nine employees, reported decreased foot traffic and a shift to takeout orders as customers fear detention. Peter Guzman, president of Las Vegas's Latin Chamber of Commerce, confirmed other Latino restaurants are experiencing slowdowns. The closure comes amid escalated immigration enforcement under the Trump administration and a partnership between Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and ICE, following an ICE raid at a similar swap meet near Los Angeles. Latinos comprise about one-third of Nevada's population and generated $46 billion in goods and services statewide in 2022.

Crime victim shot during robbery detained by ICE after police visit

Police arrested him on an old traffic warrant and transferred him to ICE custody within hours. He has been detained since late June pending removal proceedings. His case is among a growing number of crime victims arrested and detained for removal following the Trump administration's January 2025 rescission of a policy that had shielded many victims from detention.

Tempe couple pleads guilty after threatening ICE officers during June arrest

An Iranian national and his U.S. citizen wife pleaded guilty following a June 21, 2025 confrontation with ICE agents at their Tempe home. Mehrzad Asadi Eidivand pleaded guilty to being an immigrants in possession of firearms and ammunition, while his wife Linet Vartanniavartanians pleaded guilty to threats against federal law enforcement officers. ICE had arrived to administratively arrest Eidivand for failing to comply with a 2013 removal order, but the wife refused to open the door and threatened to shoot the officers. A search warrant executed the following day found two loaded firearms in the home. Both face potential prison sentences at their November sentencing hearing.

Federal agents throw flash bang grenade at protesters during Maywood car wash operation

Federal agents conducted an immigration enforcement action at Xpress Wash in Maywood on the same day as the Bell raid. A minor collision occurred when federal agents opened a vehicle door into a slowly moving BMW; the BMW's driver was detained and later released after onlookers protested. As crowds gathered, federal agents threw flash bang grenades at people standing near Riverfront Park who were recording and asking for badge numbers. No one was ultimately taken from the Maywood business, according to the councilman.

U.S. citizen detained defending coworker during car wash immigration raid in Bell

A U.S. citizen employee wearing a white long-sleeved shirt was tackled and detained after attempting to defend a coworker, according to his brother Jesús Rafael Cervantes. The raid sparked protests, with crowds confronting masked federal agents and property damage to federal vehicles occurring amid the confrontation. Federal agents used tear gas and flash bang grenades to disperse protesters.

Longtime parishioner detained by ICE while landscaping at Montclair church

A longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Montclair was detained by ICE agents on June 20, 2025, while doing landscaping work on church property. His family is involved in the parish ministry. According to ICE, the man was initially stopped during a traffic stop near the church and chose to pull into the church parking lot, where officers made the arrest. The detention occurred after President Trump revoked protections for immigration enforcement at sensitive locations including churches, schools, and hospitals that had been in place since the Obama administration. On the same day, ICE agents chased several other men onto the parking lot of St. Adelaide parish in Highland.

14 people detained by ICE at Chesterfield County Courthouse during court proceedings

Over three days in late June, ICE detained 14 people at the Chesterfield County Courthouse while they were attending court proceedings on criminal charges. Six people were detained on June 20, six more on June 23, and two additional people on June 24, according to Chesterfield County Sheriff Karl Leonard. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin defended the detentions as part of a statewide collaboration between Virginia State Police, ICE, and other federal agencies, stating that the detainees were in the country illegally.

Former NFL linebacker Daniel Adongo deported to Kenya after decade-long visa overstay

Daniel Ogama Adongo, 37, a Kenyan former linebacker who played for the Indianapolis Colts from 2013 to 2015 and was the first Kenyan-born player to join the NFL, was deported by ICE on June 20, 2025, after overstaying his visa since 2016. Over the past decade, Adongo was arrested multiple times for felony intimidation, battery, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief. In 2017, a judge ordered a psychiatric examination after he was charged with intimidation and criminal mischief; he was found incompetent to stand trial and was sent to a psychiatric hospital. In 2020, he was convicted of criminal mischief with damage and sentenced to 364 days in jail, ultimately serving six months with credit for time served. An immigration judge ordered his deportation in March 2025. His mother, Betty Adongo, and his attorneys have attributed his legal troubles to mental illness and possible traumatic brain injury from his playing career; medical evaluations indicated acute psychosis and the possibility of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) from repeated head trauma.

Plainclothes federal agent draws gun on man at stoplight in Pasadena

The incident occurred Wednesday morning around the same time federal immigration agents conducted enforcement operations at a nearby bus stop, detaining multiple day laborers. Masked plainclothes agents arrested at least two men and several other day laborers, transporting them in an unmarked minivan.

Construction worker detained at Metro stop after warrantless arrest by armed agents

Pedro Vasquez Perdomo, a 54-year-old Latino man, has lived in Pasadena, California for decades and works as a day laborer in construction while managing diabetes. On June 18, 2025, at 5:30 a.m., he was waiting at a Metro stop near Orange Grove Boulevard and Los Robles Avenue with coworkers to be picked up for a construction job when four large black vehicles with tinted windows arrived. Armed men wearing masks but no visible badges or identification emerged with guns and surrounded him and his coworkers. Perdomo was handcuffed without being informed of any warrant and stated his right to remain silent in English. He was taken to a CVS parking lot where officers searched his pockets, found his expired foreign consular ID, and placed him in a car. He was transported to a detention center in Los Angeles where he was held in a crowded room with 52 others, given minimal food and water, and provided no medical attention for six days despite his diabetes requiring daily medication management. He was then transferred to Adelanto detention facility where he remains shackled and continues to experience health deterioration and psychological distress. Vasquez Perdomo is challenging his detention and the conditions thereof through this litigation.

Brazilian student detained 15 days after traffic stop, now suing ICE

Caroline Dias Goncalves, a 19-year-old University of Utah nursing student from Brazil, was detained by ICE on June 5, 2025, following a traffic stop by a Mesa County Sheriff's deputy on Interstate 70 near Fruita, Colorado. The deputy shared information about her in a group chat used for drug interdiction efforts, which ICE agents then used to target her for immigration enforcement. Goncalves, who immigrated to the U.S. at age 7 and has a pending asylum application, was held at an ICE facility in Aurora, Colorado for 15 days, where she reported receiving poor quality food and confusing schedules, and observed differential treatment based on English proficiency. She was released on bond on June 20, 2025, and became a named plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against ICE leadership.
