Austin carpenter detained by ICE as pregnant wife pushes for his release

Yesenia is now caring alone for their 14-month-old son, Yadiel, and preparing to give birth to their second child, after previously losing a first pregnancy at 19 weeks. Lucas remains held at a detention facility in Taylor, Texas, as Yesenia seeks legal help, income and child care while advocating publicly for his release.

Deported husband reunites briefly with wife and children on visit to Mexico

Car wash workers still coping with trauma a year after Southern California ICE raids

Federal immigration agents conducted coordinated raids beginning in June 2025 at car washes and Home Depots across Los Angeles County, with armed, masked agents surrounding businesses and detaining workers, leading to family separations and lost income. According to the CLEAN Carwash Worker Center, at least 373 car wash workers were detained across 106 car washes in Southern California between June 2025 and January 2026, with some businesses later closing. One worker, detained last August after 33 years in the U.S., described being held for two months in a detention facility where he slept on a cold floor without a blanket, toothbrush or medical care. Advocates say fear and lingering trauma persist among workers and families even as media attention on the raids has faded.

34-year US resident detained indefinitely with no country willing to accept him

He built a successful painting and remodeling business in New Jersey and maintained a home there with no criminal history. On June 9, 2025, ICE arrested Izbitski and transported him to Torrance County Detention Facility in Estancia, New Mexico. He cannot be deported because Kazakhstan will not recognize him as a citizen, and no other country will accept him, yet he remains detained without bond hearings under the Trump administration's interpretation of immigration law subjecting long-term non-citizen residents to mandatory detention. His case is one of more than 100 similar cases in New Mexico where individuals face indefinite detention while challenging the government's detention policy.

Four Guatemalan workers detained in ICE raid at Connecticut car wash

Four undocumented employees from Guatemala were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents during a worksite enforcement operation at D-Hand Car Wash in Southington, Connecticut on June 9, 2025. The agents, who did not initially identify themselves, asked employees for documentation and papers around 9:30 a.m. The operation was conducted by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations Hartford division along with Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations. Day laborers detained in ICE raid at Santa Ana Home Depot

López Alvarado said agents shoved her during the arrest, causing her to lose her balance as she tried to protect her stomach. After her release, she experienced sharp stomach pains and was hospitalized for one day for monitoring. López Alvarado and her cousin Alberto Sandoval, also a U.S. citizen, were doing maintenance work when agents in Border Patrol uniforms arrived in marked CBP vehicles following a white pickup truck carrying two undocumented workers, including her partner Brian Nájera.

Photojournalist shot with rubber bullets by federal officers at LA protest

Freelance photojournalist Ted Soqui was shot in the back with three rubber bullets in rapid succession by federal officers while covering anti-deportation protests at LA's Federal Building on June 9, 2025. Soqui, who had covered protests throughout his decades-long career, took precautions after being struck with crowd-control munitions the previous day, wearing personal protective equipment and positioning himself 50 to 100 feet from officers and protesters while using a long lens to photograph from afar. The federal officers who shot him were identified as ICE or DHS agents based on department patches visible on their uniforms. The Los Angeles Press Club filed a lawsuit against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem characterizing the shooting as a "misuse of militarized weapons" that could cause significant and serious harm.

Stateless Man Entitled to Release After Months in ICE Detention, Magistrate Rules

On December 29, 2025, a U.S. Magistrate Judge recommended that the court grant his petition, finding he is being indefinitely detained without a significant likelihood of removal in the reasonably foreseeable future, as required under Supreme Court precedent. The case remains before the district court for final disposition.

Stateless man held months by ICE wins magistrate's recommendation for release

Hundreds Detained, Pepper-Sprayed in ICE Sweeps and Santa Ana Protests

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted sweeps across Orange County on June 10, 2025, detaining at least a dozen people at a Home Depot on Harbor Boulevard and others at multiple locations including businesses near Warner Avenue and Broadway. Hundreds of protesters gathered at Santa Ana's federal building and civic center in response, and law enforcement deployed pepper spray and tear gas as the demonstration grew and blocked streets. Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento said ICE appeared to target day laborers waiting for work.

U.S. citizen Angel Piña arrested by ICE in Southern California operation

Angel Piña, a U.S. citizen, was arrested by ICE and Border Patrol agents in June or July and filed a federal tort claim on August 20 alleging racial profiling and wrongful arrest. Charges against him have been dismissed. He is one of six claimants represented by the Carrillo Law Firm alleging racial profiling by ICE and Border Patrol in Southern California.

Russian Man Re-Detained by ICE After Being Released on Parole

In June 2025, ICE re-arrested him through a targeted enforcement operation after he had been working as a delivery driver and complying with immigration proceedings. The court ordered his immediate release, finding his re-detention without a hearing violated his Fifth Amendment due process rights.

Man arrested after impersonating ICE agent during Northeast Philadelphia robbery

Robert Rosado, 54, was charged with robbery, impersonating a public servant, and other offenses after entering an auto repair shop on June 8, 2025, wearing tactical gear and a fake ICE badge, claiming he would take undocumented employees into custody. He zip-tied a woman employee and stole approximately $1,000 before fleeing in an unmarked van. Investigators identified Rosado through license plate readers and surveillance footage, discovering a fake badge, airsoft gun, and other items at his residence. He is being held on $800,000 bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 8, 2025.

Undocumented mother diagnosed with terminal cancer after husband detained by ICE

Laura, a 32-year-old Colombian woman who entered the U.S. undocumented in February 2022 with her husband Luis and their 13-year-old son Angel, was diagnosed with metastatic gastric cancer after months of avoiding medical care due to fear of ICE detention. Her husband Luis was arrested at their North Miami home and transferred to Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center in Louisiana on June 8. Laura delayed seeking medical treatment out of fear she would be detained without her son, but eventually sought care at an urgent facility near Aventura and was diagnosed with terminal cancer that had spread to her ovaries, lungs, and back. She was hospitalized for a combined 14 days without insurance and has a final deportation order; she plans to return to Colombia with her son.

Cuban barber detained by ICE after asylum hearing dismissed, family seeks legal help

Randy Mesa Padrón, a 30-year-old Cuban barber, was detained by ICE on June 3, 2025, immediately after an immigration judge dismissed his asylum case without hearing his attorney's arguments. Mesa had entered the U.S. legally in February 2022 with an I-220A parole form and attended all required appointments. ICE officers were waiting in the courthouse hallway and arrested him as he left, transferring him first to a detention center in Pompano Beach where he was pressured to sign a voluntary deportation order within 24 hours, which he refused. He was later moved to Adams County Correctional Center in Mississippi. His wife launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $5,000 for legal defense, while his attorney pursued an appeal and habeas corpus petition challenging the detention. As of June 2025, Mesa remained in custody over a year after his initial detention.
