50-year-old Cuban former military member who opposed government deported to Mexico — 'If they don't imprison you, they make you disappear'
A 50-year-old Cuban former military member from Guantánamo said he was detained multiple times by Cuban authorities for opposing the government before fleeing in 2018. 'I left because if they don't imprison you, they make you disappear,' he told Human Rights Watch. He was deported from the United States to Mexico, a country where he has no ties and no legal status.
