Venezuelan man says ICE agents beat him during Georgia arrest
A 24-year-old Venezuelan man, identified as Mikel Junior Sanchez Ortiz, says he suffered a broken nose and other injuries when he was pulled from a car and beaten while heading to work in Gainesville, Georgia. His girlfriend, who was in the vehicle, says six black SUVs surrounded them, agents forced open the door, and his phone was taken. He is now held at the Stewart Detention Center, and his girlfriend has started a GoFundMe to help cover costs. The incident comes the same week members of Congress visited Stewart Detention Center and raised concerns about overcrowding, lack of care, and poor conditions there.
