27-year-old Iranian woman repeatedly asks for asylum, told 'President Trump has ended asylum,' expelled to Panama
Mina, a 27-year-old woman from Iran, crossed the U.S. border seeking asylum. She asked for asylum repeatedly during her detention. An immigration officer told her that President Trump had ended asylum, so they were going to deport her. She noticed a sign on the detention center wall stating the right to see family, make phone calls, and contact a lawyer, but U.S. immigration officers never let her do any of these things, even when she asked. She was expelled to Panama on a military plane.
