Ice-led operation detains dozens in Northeast Memphis raid
Federal agencies including Homeland Security Investigations and Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted a multi-agency enforcement operation on Macon Road in Northeast Memphis early Sunday morning. Memphis Police were called to assist with traffic and crowd control but said they were not involved in planning or executing the operation and made no arrests themselves. Advocacy group Vecindarios 901 alleged more than 100 people were detained at a neighborhood establishment called El Corralón, calling it the largest immigration raid in Memphis history, while the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition said the operation left families and businesses disrupted.
