Activist Asma Elhuni arrested by Trenton police after honking horn to warn of ICE agents
Asma Elhuni, an activist with immigrant advocacy group Resistencia en Acción, followed federal immigration officers for about 19 minutes while honking her horn to alert residents during an ICE arrest of a community member in Trenton. Trenton police subsequently stopped and arrested her, alleging she committed traffic violations, including failing to stop at signs, illegal parking, and fleeing after officers activated lights and sirens. She was released after a few hours but received multiple traffic tickets, which she is disputing with a criminal defense attorney. The Trenton Police Department denies coordinating with ICE, and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has been asked to review the arrest due to public concern.
