ICE detains four men in Montclair, smashes truck window near elementary school
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained four men in Montclair's Fourth Ward on a Monday morning, stopping their pickup truck near Elm Street and Bloomfield Avenue. Witnesses said agents smashed the truck's window and pushed the men against the vehicle while handcuffing them, just a block from Charles H. Bullock Elementary School as children were arriving for the day. Mayor Renee Baskerville and Deputy Mayor Susan Shin Andersen said they were seeking more information from ICE, which did not notify local police of the operation. A local attorney who responded to the scene offered legal assistance and said he was disturbed by how the men were treated.
