Argentine footballer detained by ICE at Miami airport, held pending bail hearing
Matías Pourrain, a 34-year-old Argentine footballer who has lived in the U.S. since 2019, was detained by ICE agents before a flight to Los Angeles. He entered on a tourist visa and filed a residency application that was never formally denied. Pourrain was playing for Miami United FC, which released a statement expressing shock and pledging full support for him and his family. His lawyer Regina Borges confirmed he qualifies for bail and is preparing a motion for a bail hearing; he is being transferred to Krome Detention Center in Florida and expected to remain in custody for at least another week.
