Jamaican man detained, facing deportation from US for second time
Mosaih Omar Wright, a Jamaican national previously deported from the U.S. in 2013 after serving a murder sentence, was taken into custody at a federal prison in New York on May 22, 2026. Wright had entered the U.S. as a stowaway in 1995, was convicted of murder in Minnesota in 1997, and later re-entered the country illegally after his 2013 deportation. He now faces removal proceedings for a second time.
