Medical emergencies surge at Miramar ICE detention site
Records show a sharp rise in 911 medical calls to the ICE field office in Miramar, Florida, which has increasingly been used to hold detainees for days despite historically serving as an administrative check-in location. Detainees report being denied access to medications, crowded conditions, and lack of basic hygiene facilities. The surge in emergencies comes as concerns mount over future detention capacity with the end of Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants.
