Volunteers cited for monitoring ICE appointments at San Diego federal building
Volunteers observing immigrants at scheduled ICE appointments at the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building in downtown San Diego have been cited for loitering by Federal Protective Service officers. Since late February 2026, volunteers have been prohibited from monitoring hallways and the check-in area, with signs posted citing federal regulations against obstructing access to federal property. Volunteers stated they were documenting apprehensions and providing support to immigrants with court hearings, and plan to contest the citations.
