ICE sweep across southwest Kansas towns leads to arrests, school and plant alerts
A large ICE operation swept through Liberal, Garden City, and Dodge City, Kansas, with masked agents in unmarked vans stopping vehicles and detaining workers near beef packing plants that employ over 10,000 residents. An immigrant advocate said she witnessed three arrests and five to six other people pulled over in a single day, and a city commissioner said agents were 'stopping people at random.' Dodge City schools warned families that students may have relatives detained, and the National Beef plant in Liberal altered employee shift schedules; agents reportedly used county buildings and event grounds as staging points.
