Woman pepper-sprayed by ICE agent while filming in Inwood as agency surges arrests across New York
ICE agents conducting enforcement operations across New York City's five boroughs on July 30-31, 2026 were documented on video pepper-spraying a woman in Inwood, Manhattan who was filming them on her cellphone. The woman appeared to be documenting the agents' presence without provocation, according to witnesses. The same day, ICE agents were also spotted questioning a family in Bushwick, Brooklyn, checking passports including those of a young child, though the family was not detained. The reported surge in ICE activity marks an unusual increase in enforcement operations across neighborhoods including Inwood, East Elmhurst, College Point, and areas on Long Island, with agents conducting more vehicle stops than previously documented.
