Federal agents launch mass immigration crackdown across New Orleans area

Dec 3, 2025New Orleans, LA

Federal agents, including more than 200 CBP and ICE officials led by Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino, began a large-scale immigration enforcement operation in New Orleans and the suburb of Kenner on December 3, 2025. Agents arrested people at a Lowe's parking lot after they tried to flee, patrolled a heavily Hispanic neighborhood in marked and unmarked vehicles, questioned a man mowing his lawn, and surrounded a home where a man stood on the roof awaiting officers to leave. The operation, dubbed 'Catahoula Crunch,' is planned to run at least 60 days with a stated goal of arresting up to 5,000 people, prompting business closures, protests, and a New Orleans City Council portal for reporting alleged abuse by federal officers.
