We collect individual stories of people impacted by U.S. immigration enforcement from news reporting, court records, and community accounts into one searchable public database, updated daily and reviewed by our team. The Human Impact Project is run by the Human Security Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Vietnamese man detained twice over teenage offense, fights to keep green card

Lam T, who is in his 50s and requested anonymity, has a removal order stemming from a fake driving license he made as a teenager. He was detained in 2003 and again in early 2026, both times later released, and has since received a gubernatorial pardon and filed a motion to reopen his removal proceedings in hopes of reinstating his green card. His wife Susan said the family, including three young children living in the Midwest, lives in constant fear of his re-detention while she supports them financially during his unemployment.
