Arteaga Cruz arrived in the U.S. as an unaccompanied minor in 2023 with his twin sister. He was arrested at a convenience store on a misdemeanor public intoxication charge, pleaded guilty, and paid fines, but was transferred to ICE custody while in Harris County jail instead of being released. Before his detention, he was a student at Lamar High School, volunteered at an English literacy program at the University of St. Thomas, and worked as a barber. He has also been identified as a victim of human trafficking and has a pending T visa application. As of June 2026, Arteaga Cruz has been held at Polk Adult Detention Facility for four months. His attorneys contend that had USCIS issued a timely notice of its asylum decision, he would not have been detained. His asylum case is scheduled to be heard by an immigration judge on June 23, 2026.

Emanuel Rodrigues, a Brazilian man with a rare life-threatening condition restricting his mobility, was held in solitary confinement for five months at Delaney Hall immigration detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. During his detention, Rodrigues became seriously ill and unable to walk after a fall that he says occurred when a guard prevented him from using crutches. His wife was unable to visit the facility. He was released on June 4, 2026, following advocacy from Rep. Rob Menendez's office, with assistance from a journalist.

Lucas Gustavo Brajak De Almeida Di Benedetto, 41, a Brazilian-born chef, drove the wrong way on Route 1 early Sunday morning and collided head-on with a Massachusetts State Police cruiser. He told authorities he had consumed two beers before the crash and was unfamiliar with the interchange. After posting bail, he appeared at Peabody District Court on June 3, 2026, for his arraignment on charges of operating under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and driving the wrong way. ICE agents arrested him outside the courthouse, taking him into custody for visa overstay—he had entered the U.S. nearly 20 years ago but was authorized to stay only three months and remained in the country illegally. Luis, a roofer with no criminal record, was arrested during an ICE raid in Arkansas while working. Video on social media documented the operation. The arrest is part of ongoing ICE enforcement in Butler County, where nearly 40 people have been detained since operations began over a year ago.

On June 3-4, 2026, ICE and state law enforcement conducted a coordinated raid at Burnstein Von Seelen Precision Casting in Abbeville County, South Carolina, as part of Operation Ghost Story, a two-year investigation that began in October 2024. His wife told media they are considering relocating the family to the United Kingdom if he is deported. An ICE spokesperson cited a 2011 removal order and stated Read violated the terms of his F-2 dependent visa after his parent's F-1 student status ended.

A Guatemalan citizen who entered the U.S. in July 2015 and resided here for nearly 11 years without interacting with immigration authorities was arrested by local police during a routine traffic stop on June 3, 2026, and transferred to ICE custody. He was held at Central Valley Annex Detention Facility and challenged his detention without a pre-deprivation hearing. The Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota filed a civil denaturalization complaint on June 3, 2026.

Alisson is currently in ICE custody and facing deportation. She arrived in the United States at age 9 and has built a life here. Her family is fundraising for legal fees and travel costs to support her case and maintain family connections.

An unnamed mother was detained by ICE officers on the morning of June 3, 2026, while dropping her child off at Scarlett Middle School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As of June 6, the school community had raised nearly $5,000 in support. ICE issued no public comment on the arrest.

Mohammad "Daniel" Hussain Ahmadi, a former Afghan army intelligence officer and member of the Hazara ethnic minority, was paroled into the U.S. in May 2024 and complied with all immigration conditions for nearly two years. On March 2, 2026, he was detained by ICE after appearing for a routine immigration check-in, with the government claiming his original parole was an error. All five arrests occurred during the same enforcement operation at the Newark facility.

A Salvadoran man who has lived in the United States since around July 2005 was arrested and detained on or around June 2, 2026, after ICE agents and a local police officer determined he was unlawfully present in the country. He is currently held at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center. He filed a habeas corpus petition and a motion for a temporary restraining order, arguing he is subject to discretionary detention under 8 U.S.C. § 1226(a) rather than mandatory detention under § 1225(b)(2), entitling him to a bond hearing. Denny Gabriel Perez Ospino, a Venezuelan national, was arrested by ICE agents outside Cook County's Bridgeview Courthouse after completing a court hearing for misdemeanor retail theft charges. According to a witness, agents swarmed his vehicle as he attempted to leave, chased him back toward the courthouse, and physically restrained him at the entrance. DHS stated he was released by the Biden administration in November 2023 after Border Patrol apprehension and is subject to removal proceedings.

A high school student was detained by ICE on June 2, 2026, while on his way to work. At the time of detention, he was in the process of adjusting his immigration status with legal representation. ICE lodged an immigration detainer against him, claiming he entered the U.S. without legal documentation. DHS used the case to criticize Virginia's sanctuary policies and the expiration of Prince William County's 287(g) agreement with ICE.

Alexander Jose Regnault-Avila and his 4-year-old daughter Alexandra were detained by ICE agents on Friday, May 31, 2026, in Albany while walking to the girl's pre-school. The family had entered the U.S. without authorization in 2023, and an immigration judge ordered their removal in 2024. Maria Alejandra Gomez-Quiroz, a 21-year-old pregnant woman from Colombia, has been held for more than 40 days at the Dilley family immigration detention center in Texas after being arrested by Border Patrol at the border. She and her partner had been fleeing violence from guerrillas in Colombia and planned to apply for asylum. Her sister, Kelly Ocampo, said the family paid more than $3,000 to someone posing as an immigration lawyer who sent a fake letter on ICE letterhead falsely claiming her bond had been approved, but she remained in custody. Her family says she has experienced lower abdominal pain and depression while detained. DHS says she was convicted of illegal entry and remains in custody pending removal proceedings. She is one of at least 500 people detained at Dilley and one of four pregnant women held there, according to lawmakers, and a federal judge in California has ordered a special master and independent monitor to examine time in custody and medical care at the facility.

Javier (pseudonym) left Colombia in 2023 with his wife and two children due to threats from armed groups where he worked in the medical field, and the family applied for asylum in the U.S. After he obtained a work permit, and while his wife was pregnant and the family awaited their merits hearing in immigration court, ICE detained him. He was held for three months, denied asylum, and deported to Colombia in March 2026 despite significant evidence of the dangers he faced there. While he was in Colombia, his son was born and placed in the NICU. Desperate to reunite with his wife, children, and newborn, he reentered the U.S., was detained at the border, and was quickly deported to Costa Rica in June 2026. He has yet to meet his third child and is applying for asylum in Costa Rica, hoping to reunite with his family there.

A noncitizen who entered the United States in December 2024 and resided here for over one year is at the center of this case. He was served with a Notice to Appear and paroled from custody into the United States. In June 2026, he was apprehended by immigration authorities and taken into ICE custody. An Immigration Judge ordered his removal, and he had until August 20, 2026 to appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals. He filed a pro se habeas corpus petition challenging his mandatory detention as violating his Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights. The court found that because he was previously paroled from custody and had established ties to the United States through his residency, the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment guaranteed him an individualized assessment of his flight risk and dangerousness before detention. The court granted his habeas corpus petition and ordered his immediate release from custody under reasonable conditions, with a requirement that respondents submit a status report by August 11, 2026, and return all identification documents and personal belongings.

After a federal judge's order in May 2026, Mirsy and her children returned to Florida, though she remains under ankle monitoring and required to attend ICE check-ins every two weeks.

Hermel, a migrant from Ecuador, was arrested by ICE and detained for nearly four months before signing voluntary departure paperwork and being returned to Ecuador. A prominent photographer, who requested anonymity, had the top of his camera smashed by ICE agents while covering anti-ICE protests outside Delaney Hall detention center in Newark. The incident occurred during clashes between protesters and federal agents over the weekend.

Photographer Madison Swart, a frequent contributor to The New York Times, was deliberately pushed to the ground and struck with a baton by an ICE agent while documenting anti-ICE protests outside Delaney Hall detention center in Newark. Swart was moving back as instructed when an agent shoved her forcefully with a baton, causing her to fall. She reported being in shock over the incident.

Reuters photojournalist Ryan Murphy was struck repeatedly with a baton by ICE agents while covering anti-ICE protests outside Delaney Hall immigration detention center over multiple nights in late May 2026. Murphy says agents deliberately targeted his camera during an incident on Thursday, striking his hand near his flash and breaking a finger. He photographed a protester being bear-sprayed moments before being hit himself.

M, an uncle and construction worker living in the Atlanta area for nearly twenty years, was detained by ICE in late June after being pulled over in Gainesville for an expired vehicle tag. He was held at Stewart Detention Center and was released on bond a few days before his brother's arrest, but is required to wear an ankle monitor.

Wendy Baca Sánchez, a Honduran national five months pregnant, has been hospitalized multiple times since her detention in late June near San Miguel, Arizona by border agents. She is currently in ICE custody at Eloy Detention Center. The nature and reasons for her multiple hospitalizations are described in reports of ICE's continued detention of pregnant women in Arizona.

Roberto López Falcón, a Cuban-born fifth-grade ESL teacher at Hart Elementary School in Austin, was detained by ICE on September 3, 2025, during a routine check-in appointment in San Antonio. He had entered the United States from Cuba in March 2022 seeking asylum after clashing with Cuban government officials over his refusal to promote Communist Party ideology while teaching civics. Employed full-time by Austin ISD and recognized as a Campus Teacher of Promise, López Falcón's sudden disappearance devastated his students and families, with at least one student diagnosed with depression. His asylum case was denied in October 2025 with rejection rates between 80-93%, and he remained in detention at Karnes County Immigration Processing Center for 297 days while appealing. A federal judge ordered his release in late June 2026 after ruling his detention illegal, despite an immigration judge's earlier denial of bail. During confinement, López Falcón read 37 books and worked in the detention center library, maintaining his focus on returning to teaching.

A native and citizen of Armenia who entered the United States in 2021 was arrested at a regular ICE check-in in June 2026 and remains detained at Adelanto ICE Processing Center. He has a final removal order, and an immigration judge denied his motion to reopen. He filed a habeas petition under 28 U.S.C. § 2241 on June 25, 2026, challenging the legality of his present detention primarily on due process grounds rather than seeking review of the removal order itself. The parties disputed whether he is subject to mandatory or discretionary detention and whether respondents complied with statutory, regulatory, and constitutional requirements governing his continued confinement. Brandy Rogers, a mental health therapist, was stopped by ICE agents in an unmarked vehicle in June after she volunteered to drive a neighbor home from district court. When ICE agents pounded on the car's doors and threatened to shatter the windows if she did not unlock the vehicle, Rogers initially refused but eventually complied. Her neighbor, whom Rogers identified as being in the country legally, was taken into custody and held for three weeks before being released. Rogers recounted: "I initially refused, shook my head no, but they weren't having any of it and just kept knocking on the door."

A Cameroonian citizen who entered the U.S. in December 2022 was arrested on June 1, 2026, by ICE agents in the lobby of the Sacramento ERO office after an Immigration Judge denied his asylum application and ordered his removal. He was transferred to Golden State Annex Detention Facility in McFarland, California. An 8-year-old U.S. citizen was detained in a federally contracted shelter in Brooklyn for nearly seven months after being picked up at the Mexico-U.S. border. Despite his grandmother providing federal officials with his birth certificate establishing his U.S. citizenship through his mother, the Office of Refugee Resettlement did not investigate his citizenship status. An advocate documented that the child appeared sad, isolated, and reluctant to engage during detention. The dismissals cited insufficient evidence and misconduct by federal agents.

José Enrique Ojeda Duarte, a Venezuelan immigrant and father of two, was arrested by ICE on September 15, 2025, during Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago while heading to work. He was held in detention centers across multiple states. Despite a federal judge ordering the release of 615 people detained in the operation in November 2025, Ojeda's deportation proceeded and he was removed to Venezuela on April 6, 2026. After two months, he returned to the U.S. in June 2026 following legal action by his attorneys, who successfully challenged the deportation as erroneous in federal court. He was reunited with his wife and two children.

Randy Cordova Flores, a 36-year-old Peruvian landscaper and father of two children enrolled in the Allegheny Valley School District, was pulled over by Springdale Borough police for a traffic violation on February 10, 2026, and turned over to ICE agents. He had entered the U.S. without documentation in 2023 and was pursuing an asylum case with valid work authorization; ICE claimed he had missed an immigration hearing, but his family and legal representatives said he had been complying with check-in requirements. He was held at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County and later transferred to Northern Regional Correctional Facility in West Virginia, where he was confined to a small cell 23 hours a day. After his family launched a legal challenge, he won release through a habeas corpus petition in June 2026, four months after his detention began, and was freed on bond with an ankle monitor while his case continues.

On June 10, 2025, ICE conducted a workplace enforcement operation at Glenn Valley Foods meatpacking plant in Omaha, Nebraska, detaining 76 employees as part of a three-month investigation into identity theft. Workers were accused of using stolen Social Security numbers from over 100 U.S. citizens to gain employment. Luis Mejia's mother was among those detained while Mejia, then 19, was released to support the separated family. Of those arrested, approximately 17 were deported immediately, 25 were released on bond, and 25 were transferred to other facilities. Most detainees remained in immigration court proceedings months later.
