Venezuelan asylum seeker detained by ICE while delivering packages in Kent, WA
Isaac Vitriago, a Venezuelan man who came to the United States in 2019 and applied for political asylum in 2020, was detained by ICE on October 1st while working as a delivery driver in Kent, Washington. He was transferred to a detention center in Tacoma and had a key hearing in his case on October 14th. Vitriago had obtained a work permit, Social Security number, and driver's license while awaiting his asylum interview, and family members say he underwent open heart surgery in Venezuela years ago after a long wait for care, raising concerns about his health if deported. His family is raising funds for his legal defense and bond.
