Man detained in California City granted bond after 7 months

Sam Behpoor, a restaurateur and manager of Pismo's Coastal Grill, was released on bond after being held in ICE custody for over eight months beginning June 23, 2025, when he attended an immigration interview. Behpoor had lost his green card following a 2004 non-aggravated burglary conviction and was detained while attempting to reinstate it. An immigration judge determined he did not pose a danger to the community or flight risk, allowing him to post bond and return home to his wife and toddler. The Governor had pardoned his 2004 conviction in November.

ICE enforcement operations in Long Beach result in detentions

San Diego taco shop closes after owner deported by ICE

Victor Rodriguez Ocampo Sr., 54, longtime owner of La Playa Taco Shop in Pacific Beach, was detained by ICE agents outside his National City home on Oct. 31, 2025. He was held at Otay Mesa Detention Center before being deported to Mexico in January 2026. His son, Victor Jr., ran the restaurant in his absence before joining the Navy, and the taco shop, which had served the community for 30 years, permanently closed on Sept. 19, 2026.

Agents raid plaza, shoppers hide in fear

ICE conducted a raid at a Koreatown plaza in Los Angeles. A security guard at the location reported that approximately 10 people were detained during the operation. The guard stated that shoppers were present at businesses in the plaza including Speakeasy Fitness and Food 4 Less.

ICE agents chase and tackle gardener at Long Beach restaurant

Federal immigration agents conducted enforcement operations at multiple locations in Long Beach on November 20, 2025, including at Polly's Pies restaurant, where agents chased a gardener inside and tackled him in front of two Long Beach Police Department officers who were eating there. Police said officers recognized the operation as federal immigration enforcement and did not intervene; restaurant staff who knew the man contacted his family, and a local business improvement district board member retrieved the keys to his work truck for them. Agents also arrested three people outside Cherry Donuts and were reported at four additional locations, including a church and intersections along Pacific Coast Highway, throughout the morning.

Australian wife of Navy veteran arrested at green card interview, later released on bond

An Australian woman and wife of a Navy veteran was arrested by ICE agents during her green card interview on November 18, 2025, in the same enforcement operation as other military spouses. She was detained for eight days before an immigration judge ordered her release on bond on November 26, 2025. She has no criminal history and remains eligible to pursue her green card through her U.S. citizen spouse. Her attorney noted this was the first arrest of this type at green card interviews in over 12 years of practice.

Thai wife of retired Marine arrested at green card interview, detained at Otay Mesa

ICE impersonator harasses Uber driver and passenger in Los Angeles

A man in a white truck impersonated an ICE agent by displaying a fake badge and clipboard while harassing an Uber driver and passenger near USC in Los Angeles. The man yelled racist slurs, spat at the vehicle multiple times, and chased them for several blocks before fleeing. The incident lasted approximately 20 minutes and was reported to 911 and the Newton Community Police Station.

Church Member Chased By ICE Agents, Deported Within A Day

ICE agents, some without visible identification, carried out an enforcement action at a church, detaining individuals as children screamed and women cried, with witnesses saying agents chased workers into the woods. In a separate incident, armed, masked ICE agents chased a congregant, Carlos Chavez, into the parking lot of North Hills United Methodist Church while he worked at a taco stand there before detaining him. Chavez, who had no criminal record or outstanding warrant, said he was denied medical care for bronchitis and anxiety while in custody and signed a self-deportation order out of fear, leading to his deportation to Tijuana within a day of his arrest. His wife and children have not seen him in person since.

U.S. citizen Carlos Jimenez shot by ICE agents during Ontario enforcement action; disputes escalation account

Man Detained by ICE After Criminal Court Hearing Despite 6-Year Release
