ICE arrests Milford High School student on immigration violation

An 18-year-old Milford High School student, Marcelo Gomes Da Silva, was detained by ICE agents off campus on Saturday while driving his father's vehicle. Da Silva came to the United States on a student visa in 2012 that has since lapsed, and he intends to apply for asylum. A federal judge ordered he not be moved out of state for 72 hours following a habeas corpus petition filed by his attorney.

U.S. citizen violently arrested by ICE, judge calls tactics 'vindictive'

Christian Cerna, a 28-year-old U.S. citizen from Paramount, California, was arrested by ICE on June 11, 2025, in an operation involving agents ramming his vehicle, detonating flash-bang grenades, and pointing assault rifles at the car while his partner and two young children were inside. The arrest came after Cerna attended a June 7 protest against ICE near a Home Depot in Paramount, where agent Eduardo Mejorado alleged Cerna struck him; Cerna and his lawyers say he swung his hand without making contact, and no injury to the agent was alleged. ICE/DHS filmed the arrest and posted the footage to social media, labeling Cerna a 'violent rioter'; Cerna later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault. A federal judge later described the arrest operation as part of a 'vindictive effort' by officials to 'impose extrajudicial punishment.'

Federal immigration agents raid San Diego restaurants, detain workers

Homeland Security Investigations agents raided two locations of Buona Forchetta restaurant in San Diego's South Park neighborhood on Friday evening, deploying flash bang grenades and detaining multiple employees. According to the restaurant manager, at least four workers were detained during the operation. Community members gathered outside to protest, and San Diego Police were called to assist with crowd control, though they did not participate in the enforcement action.

Military Veteran Arrested After ICE Protest in Spokane

On June 11, two asylum seekers who reported for immigration court were detained by ICE in Spokane. A protest ensued where demonstrators blocked an ICE bus and deflated its tires. Military veteran Bajun Mavalwalla II, who participated in the protest, was arrested by FBI agents at his home on July 15.

Rep. McIver indicted on three counts after ICE facility protest

May 9, 2025Newark, NJ

Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., was indicted on three counts of forcibly impeding and interfering with federal officers following a May 9 incident at Newark's Delaney Hall ICE detention facility. The indictment, announced June 10 by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, carries a maximum sentence of 17 years if convicted on all counts. McIver has pleaded not guilty and stated she was conducting lawful congressional oversight duties. McIver and her attorney deny the charges and characterize the prosecution as political retaliation.

Ukrainian immigrant released from ICE custody but still faces removal

Viktoriia Bulavina, a Ukrainian immigrant married to a U.S. citizen, was handcuffed and detained by federal immigration agents immediately after a marriage-based green card interview at the USCIS office in downtown San Diego. She was held for five days in poor conditions, including an open toilet in view of guards, expired food, and denial of medication, before being released following media coverage and attorney intervention. She now faces removal proceedings.

Maryland teenager swept into Trump immigration dragnet

Dominican man tased during ICE arrest sparks Providence hospital protest

Columbia University student and green card holder arrested by ICE, habeas corpus petition filed

M.K., a lawful permanent resident and student at Columbia University, was arrested by ICE on March 8, 2025, at his student housing with no prior notice. According to his habeas corpus petition, DHS agents initially claimed his student visa had been revoked, but M.K. presented documents proving he is a green card holder. The agents arrested him anyway, claiming his green card had been revoked without providing any basis for the revocation. M.K. is married to a U.S. citizen who is 8 months pregnant. His petition alleges the arrest and detention violate his First Amendment and Due Process rights and claims the government is using immigration enforcement to suppress student activism and political speech.

Venezuelan immigrant detained in Detroit attempted suicide in custody

A Venezuelan immigrant detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection near the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel attempted to take his life by hanging himself in early March 2025. CBP officers intervened and transported him to a hospital for evaluation before transferring him to ICE custody on March 15. The incident is part of a larger pattern where advocates report 213 immigrants were detained in Detroit between January and March 2025, with approximately 90% having accidentally taken the wrong lane onto the Ambassador Bridge or tunnel while attempting to return to the U.S.

DHS Condemns Activists Revealing ICE Agents' Identities in California

Phoenix woman with leukemia denied medical care in ICE detention

Minneapolis rapper arrested by federal agents during protests

Minneapolis rapper Nur-D was arrested by federal agents on January 24 while participating in protests. The arrest occurred following the shooting death of Alex Pretti by U.S. Border Patrol agents. Advocate pepper-sprayed during ICE enforcement activity in Carpinteria

A volunteer with Carpinteria Sin Fronteras was pepper-sprayed by an ICE agent on January 14 while observing and recording ICE vehicle stops from a public sidewalk. Video footage shows the agent deploying spray toward the volunteer, who was filming the encounter. The confrontation included a heated verbal exchange in which the agent stated that interfering with enforcement is a felony. No arrest was made, though the agent threatened federal charges against the volunteer.

ICE revokes Global Entry after facial recognition scan of protester

An agent told her they used facial recognition technology to identify her. Chicago state lawmaker stopped at gunpoint by immigration agents

State Rep. Hoan Huynh said federal Customs and Border Patrol agents stopped him at gunpoint on Chicago's Northwest Side while he was conducting community education about ICE rights. Six agents surrounded his vehicle near Montrose Avenue and Kimball Avenue, with one agent pulling a gun. A DHS official stated Huynh was stalking law enforcement and interfering with operations.
