18-year-old U.S. citizen detained by Border Patrol during NC workplace enforcement sweep
Fernando Vazquez, an 18-year-old U.S. citizen, was detained by Border Patrol agents at his workplace in Cary, North Carolina on November 20, 2025, during a broader immigration enforcement sweep. Agents confiscated his wallet and personal belongings, including college and high school IDs and AirPods, before placing him in a vehicle. Vazquez asserted his First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights during the detention. Agents released him after realizing their error, but he was left without his personal items. The incident occurred as part of enforcement operations that detained over 250 people in Charlotte during the same period.
