Parents detained by ICE while waiting for children after school in Danbury, CT

ICE agents detained parents in Danbury, Connecticut, who were waiting for their children to get off the school bus, according to Senator Chris Murphy. A bystander recorded video of tactical-gear-clad agents taking a man into custody on a residential sidewalk near the school. Murphy said ICE "waited until the kids were on the bus so when they are dropped off at the end of the day, they are alone, scared to death they can't find their parents," and called on the Trump administration to halt the operations. The advocacy group Danbury Unites for Immigrants reported 25 people detained on Wednesday, 16 on Monday, and at least nine on Tuesday, with additional detentions at day-laborer gathering spots and a Latino grocery store. The group said two of its legal observers were shoved by officers, with one hospitalized after exposure to pepper spray.
