ICE, working with the Florida Highway Patrol, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Florida National Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other state and local partners, arrested 500 people during a weeklong immigration enforcement operation in Fort Myers between Aug. 24 and Aug. 27. Officials said those arrested included people with final orders of removal, repeat immigration violators, and individuals with criminal histories involving domestic violence, drug offenses, DUI, assault, and other offenses. The operation was conducted under Florida's 287(g) program, which the state says includes participation from all 67 county sheriffs.
