Jesus Israel Garcia-Cobarruvias, a Mexican national who had previously been deported three times, was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations agents on September 17, 2026 in Martinez, California. The arrest followed an August 31, 2026 incident in which he allegedly drove his vehicle toward ICE officers, striking one officer and damaging a government vehicle before fleeing. Officials said the injured officer currently cannot walk without assistance. During the September arrest, he refused commands to exit his vehicle, and agents used force to remove him and take him into custody. DHS officials said he has prior criminal convictions.
