West Virginia senator says ICE went too far after 593 arrested, most with no record
Sep 30, 2026
Republican Senator Jim Justice of West Virginia said the Trump administration should 'step back' and reconsider its immigration enforcement agenda. His comments followed an ACLU of West Virginia investigation finding that about three-quarters of the more than 593 people arrested by ICE during 'Operation Country Roads' in January had no criminal record. Ranchers' associations and dairy farmers have also warned that ICE operations are harming agricultural communities by removing longtime workers.
