ICE arrests construction workers near PA hospital, stoking fear in immigrant community
Sep 2, 2026·Location: Danville, PA
On September 2, ICE agents and local police stopped and arrested construction workers building an addition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Montour County, Pennsylvania, as the men left work for the evening on roads near the facility. ICE said it arrested 10 people, though advocates and a witness say the total, including people picked up on other dates and at worker housing, may exceed 40. Witnesses, including a construction worker and a Geisinger employee, reported seeing the facility surveilled by unmarked SUVs with tinted windows in the lead-up to the arrests. A Pennsylvania organizing director with We Are CASA said immigrants are increasingly afraid to seek medical care or leave their homes because of fears of enforcement near hospitals and other community sites once considered off-limits to ICE.
