Amnesty International documents racial profiling, unlawful force in ICE operations across four cities
Oct 5, 2026
Amnesty International released findings documenting a pattern of human rights violations by ICE during large-scale immigration enforcement operations in Chicago, Minneapolis-St Paul, New Orleans and Washington DC. Researchers documented racial profiling, arbitrary detention, unlawful use of force including lethal force, and use of facial recognition, drones and helicopters for surveillance. The report also detailed overcrowded, unsanitary detention conditions with minimal healthcare and restricted legal access, as well as cases where families could not locate detained relatives. Amnesty International is calling for ICE to be abolished.
