Justice Department moves to strip citizenship from 40 naturalized Americans
Oct 6, 2026

The U.S. Justice Department announced denaturalization filings against more than three dozen naturalized citizens accused of crimes, calling it the largest such initiative in a single period under the Trump administration. The cases, filed in federal courts between August 21 and October 2, involve people from countries including Mexico, China, Iran, Pakistan and the Philippines. Officials allege the individuals concealed crimes or misrepresented facts during naturalization, including one case involving a former Navy sailor convicted of espionage for China.
