Since 2025, multiple York County, Pennsylvania municipalities — including Carroll Township, Hellam Township, and West York Borough — have signed 287(g) agreements deputizing local police to make immigration arrests, resulting in more than 500 arrests of immigrants since the start of 2025. Analysis of federal data found York County accounted for over 31% of all 287(g) arrests statewide despite having only 3.6% of Pennsylvania's population, with about 80% of those arrested having no criminal record or pending charges.
