Father of three detained by ICE days after immigration court appearance
Aug 22, 2026·Location: Buffalo, NY

A father of three children in the Buffalo, NY school district has been held in ICE detention for about six weeks after being detained using an outdated warrant, less than 24 hours after appearing in immigration court. At that court appearance, he had received paperwork indicating he was in compliance with USCIS. He now has two weeks to raise bond or face deportation proceedings, and his family says he fled his home country after being threatened for refusing to comply with government pressure to make unethical medical decisions as a physician. His community describes him and his family as financially struggling without him.
