Enrollment in NYC Care, a program providing health access to undocumented New Yorkers, dropped 12% from 140,222 to 123,124 patients. Health officials and advocates say fear that personal information could be shared with ICE is discouraging immigrants from enrolling or seeking medical care, following reports that federal Medicare and Medicaid data had been shared with ICE. A primary care physician said many undocumented patients have stopped coming to clinics or even meeting with immigration lawyers since 2024.
