New data from the Online Deportation Data Project shows ICE arrests in Maryland nearly tripled in 2025, with more than 3,300 arrests from January through October compared to 1,165 during the same period in 2024, an 184% increase. Seventeen percent of those arrests occurred in Baltimore City, more than any other jurisdiction, and the data shows 23 arrests at courthouses and 205 at detention centers. The increase, along with the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an immigration enforcement officer in Minneapolis, prompted demonstrations across Maryland, including protests in Bel Air and outside Baltimore City Hall where speakers called on local and state officials to limit ICE's ability to operate in the city.
