Edgar Hernan Elias Escobar was driving his pickup truck in Malden, Massachusetts, on Sept. 17 when ICE agents pulled him over, shattered his window and pulled him from the vehicle during a struggle. His wife, Leslie Perlera Gonzalez, said agents grabbed his arm and his head snapped back; he was later taken by ambulance to a hospital with blood on his arm. Escobar, a Salvadoran national married to a U.S. citizen and pursuing a green card through an I-130 petition, was held in immigration detention for nearly a month before an immigration judge granted him release on bond on Oct. 9, and he was reunited with his family on Oct. 11. He still faces an immigration court hearing in March 2026 over the government's effort to remove him.
