Sydney Lori Reid was filming federal agents as they detained two people in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2025. Agents pinned her against a wall and later alleged she had assaulted an FBI agent. Prosecutors went to three separate federal grand juries and none would indict her for assaulting, resisting or impeding federal agents. The case is one of hundreds in which people observing federal agents have been charged under the federal law against impeding officers; a New York Times investigation found nearly half of the resolved cases ended in dismissal, withdrawal or acquittal.
