Over 5,600 migrant families detained at Dilley center as conditions worsen

Between April 2025 and February 2026, more than 5,600 people, including parents, children, toddlers, and newborns, were detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the sole active family detention facility in the United States. As of April 2026, the detained population continued to grow, with representatives reporting an increase to 138 families in a single week and describing heightened secrecy and restrictive conditions at the facility.
