Supreme Court Hears Asylum Turnback Policy Case
Jul 1, 2026 · Washington, DC, Mexico
The Supreme Court issued rulings affirming birthright citizenship while allowing the Trump administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haitian and Syrian immigrants and restrict asylum access. Freedom for Immigrants condemned the TPS and asylum decisions, calling for the Senate to pass legislation preserving TPS for Haitians. The organization warned the rulings would fuel continued detention and deportation of affected communities.
