Wendy Hernandez Reyes was arrested by ICE on January 8, 2026, during a traffic stop in Mobile, Alabama, while traveling to work. Though she requested to take her 3-year-old U.S. citizen son Orlín with her when deported on January 26, ICE denied her request. She was forced to leave him in the care of her brother-in-law, who subsequently killed the boy. Hernandez Reyes is now in Honduras grieving the loss of her son.
