Guatemalan Woman Detained by ICE While Appeal Pending Before BIA
Apr 3, 2026 · Guatemala
Eneldina Dalila Toma-Sambrano De Sandoval, a Guatemalan citizen married to a lawful permanent resident, was taken into custody by ICE while her appeal was pending before the Board of Immigration Appeals. She had missed her March 2020 immigration hearing due to attorney error, resulting in a removal order in absentia. The court denied her request for emergency relief to delay removal and release from detention.
