After his release, Gómez disappeared and failed to report to ICE as expected. On May 5, 2026, a federal judge ordered Gómez re-detained after the withheld warrant information emerged. The judge criticized the conduct as a breach of trust and ordered a disciplinary review of the U.S. attorney's office, noting that had she known about the warrant, she would not have granted Gómez's habeas corpus petition.
