Nebraska converts state prison to ICE detention center under $2.5 million monthly contract

Governor Jim Pillen partnered with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to convert the state's Work Ethic Camp, a minimum-security prison, into a federal immigration detention center with 280 beds. Under a two-year contract, ICE pays Nebraska at least $2.5 million monthly. The Nebraska National Guard provides logistical support.
