Nearly 300 deportation flights took off in May

Nearly 300 Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation flights departed the United States in May 2026, more than double the 126 flights during Trump's first full month in office. The Department of Homeland Security reports deporting nearly 900,000 undocumented immigrants since January 20, 2025, with approximately 3,000 government-chartered removal flights taking off under Trump. Central America was the top destination for deportation flights, accounting for 40%-60% of all flights, while flights also went to Mexico, South America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.
