A man with multiple chronic conditions including HIV was brought to Krome on February 2, 2025, despite having been detained there in 2020 with his medical records on file. He was denied medication during six days in processing and waited another six days before staff restored his treatment. His detainee bracelet still listed his 2020 entry date, proving staff knew of his record. When transferred to FDC, he began spitting up blood. A doctor told staff 'He's not our problem.' Officers denied him essential medications and locked him overnight in a bloodstained medical exam room without food or water. 'There was blood on the bed and around the toilet. I was sick, alone, and they left me there. I felt as if I was going to die. I just wanted my medication,' he said.
