The wife of a Nicaraguan man detained at the Broward Transitional Center said that after he was hospitalized on May 8, she was told she could not speak to him for two weeks. 'The last time I spoke to him, he said that he was going to go on a hunger strike and that he wanted to die,' she said. 'I don't know if he's alive, if he's dead, if they're hurting him. I always believed these things didn't happen in this country. My husband has no record here. He's a hard worker, a family man. He's being held incommunicado. I don't understand.'
