Former unaccompanied child with work permit and pending asylum detained — government took two weeks to comply with release order
Oscar arrived in the United States as a child in 2021 and was placed in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement before being released to his father. He has a work permit and pending applications for asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. A federal judge determined his detention was unlawful and ordered him immediately released, but it took the government two weeks to comply with the court order.
