Military families of active-duty troops detained and deported as Trump administration reverses longstanding protections

The Trump administration has detained more than 50 parents and spouses of active-duty U.S. service members, with at least six deported and one self-deported, reversing decades of bipartisan protection for military families. Air Force Tech Sgt Wendy Gbeve's father was detained at a USCIS interview in Missouri and deported to Mexico. The detentions have left service members without emotional support and caretakers for their children, delayed deployments, and forced some to take military leave.
