U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has partnered with Palantir Technologies, a Denver-based software company co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel, to deploy ImmigrationOS, an artificial intelligence platform designed to identify, track, and deport suspected noncitizens. The $30 million contract runs through September 2027, with a prototype expected by September 25, 2025. The system will integrate data from government databases including passport records, Social Security files, IRS tax data, and license-plate reader information to create AI-driven profiles for enforcement decisions. Stephen Miller, the Trump administration's chief architect of immigration policy, holds a substantial financial stake in Palantir, raising concerns about conflicts of interest. Privacy and labor rights advocates have filed lawsuits challenging the system, citing concerns about accuracy, civil liberties, bias in algorithmic decision-making, and lack of public oversight.
