Naturalized citizen detained by CBP for months over oath ceremony delay

María Gloria Lopez Alcala, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was arrested and detained by CBP on May 8. She had passed her U.S. citizenship test but never received a scheduled date for her oath ceremony. As of the report, she had been held for three months at the Laredo Detention Center, where she spoke with El Grito Media by phone.
