ICE deported over 100 Iranians to Tehran after coordinating list with Iranian officials
Sep 29, 2025 · Alexandria, LA, Iran

Newly released FOIA documents show ICE coordinated directly with Iranian government officials and Qatari security forces to deport Iranians back to Iran, including at least three people added to a September 2025 flight at Tehran's specific request. The deportations, ordered by the White House in June 2025 amid the Twelve-Day War, included Iranians who are openly gay or converted to Christianity, both criminalized in Iran. An Iranian diplomat was allowed to interview detainees at the Alexandria Staging Facility in Louisiana and reportedly had access to detailed asylum case information, and one Iranian was mistakenly deported after being boarded without approval. In total, ICE deported more than 100 people to Iran across flights in September and December 2025 and January 2026, and several deportees were later questioned by Iranian secret police after arrival.
