The first ICE deportation flight to Haiti since the Supreme Court upheld the Trump administration's power to end Temporary Protected Status landed in Cap-Haïtien with more than 160 Haitian nationals. The flight avoided Port-au-Prince due to gang violence and a US flight ban to the capital. Deportees, many covering their faces out of fear of gang targeting, were offered up to $65 and food and drink upon arrival. Haitian migration officials said the group included some people not born in Haiti, including one who had lived in the Dominican Republic, and that authorities would attempt to reunite them with relatives while helping others reach southern and western regions despite dangerous routes controlled by gangs.
